Last Night

Oh, my love. I'd been looking forward to an evening like last night for longer than you can possibly imagine.

It's funny. I have exactly one item on my bucket list, which is to kiss you. And it's not like that could realistically have happened last night anyways, but…

If it had, it would have been when the kids left us alone for a while… I'm not sure that we have ever been that alone before, not since that time I drove you home to get your spare key so many years ago…

But the thing is… I was so engaged with doing my favorite thing in the whole entire world… talking to you… that I hardly even noticed they had gone. You were the only thing in my world, the only thing in my vision.

And what a vision… sigh

I just love talking to you so much. I just love you, so much.

But, love… despite copious amounts of liquid courage, there were still a handful of things that I wanted to say to you, but sadly couldn't get myself to…

I wanted to tell you that you are so beautiful… I know I said something, I don't remember exactly what, but not that… Not enough. You are beautiful. You are stunning. Always. Sparkly evening gown, miniskirt and blouse, prom dress, your work clothes, or a Foo Fighters tee and shorts… Doesn't even matter. You are simply gorgeous.

But mostly I wanted to tell you that you are so amazing…

Wait. I think I did say that. I did… didn't I?

Good. That's the most important one. You are amazing. Truly amazing. sigh

I'm sure there was more, but that's ok… my love… what a wonderful night. I know circumstances won't allow for that often at all, but gosh… anytime they do, I hope we manage to come together. Because there is nothing I want more in my life than you.
